A healthcare cloud migration on old pipes
The challenge
EHR and imaging data moved to Azure and AWS, but remote clinics kept legacy 300 Mbps MPLS links, and users suffered lag while carriers pushed MPLS upgrades.
The result
1 Gig fiber DIA with SD-WAN overlay and policy-based routing for Azure and AWS, latency down, HIPAA performance maintained, costs drastically reduced.

The challenge
A regional healthcare provider migrated critical EHR and imaging workloads to Azure and AWS while remote clinics stayed on legacy 300 Mbps MPLS. Circuits showed ‘up’ while users complained of lag, providers recommended upgrading MPLS instead of modern alternatives, and the IT budget hadn’t anticipated needing double the bandwidth.
What we did
We shifted the clinics from MPLS to 1 Gig fiber Dedicated Internet Access with an SD-WAN overlay, and set up policy-based routing optimized for Azure and AWS traffic, designed around the provider’s HIPAA performance requirements.
The outcome
Latency dropped, costs fell drastically versus the MPLS path, and the cloud platforms finally performed as promised. Cloud migrations fail not from bad clouds, but from old pipes, most legacy bandwidth plans can’t sustain imaging or AI-scale data transfers.
